Where Heritage Lives on

A GUIDE TO THE PLANTS OF NAIROBI CITY PARK

This guide builds on an initial biodiversity assessment of the park carried out by the National Museums of Kenya scientists since 2009. This work that includes 558 species of plants, of which 81 are described in detail and illustrated with colour photographs, is intended to stimulate interest in the park and enhance awareness of the need for its continued conservation.

We salute the important contributions of the Nairobi County Government and the Friends of City Park who with this beautifully designed guidebook are delivering a timely reminder of just what it makes Nairobi City Park such vital and special part of our national heritage

Geoffrey Mwachala, Itambo Malombe, Paul M. Kirika and Judith Nyamai are botanists with extensive experience of the flora of Kenya, all serving at the East African Herbarium, National Museums of Kenya.
